Antennas

A showcase for my ham radio antennas.

2m Slim Jim

My first homebrew antenna, made out of 1/2in. copper pipe. It works great, with noticeable improvement of signal strength from repeaters when compared to a 5/8 wave magnetic mount at the same height. Zip-tied to a 10ft piece of PVC which is secured to a ventilation pipe on the roof with U bolts.

20m Dipole

Standard half wave dipole. Mounted on the roof at a slight slant and fed right outside my window and fed with coax. Works okay but I don’t have anything to compare it with.

Dipole End

80m Horizontal Loop

My newest antenna, 270ft. of wire strung off the roof, around the backyard, back up the other side of the house, and over to the start. Fed with 450ohm ladder line to an MFJ 949e tuner. Seams to pick up signals on 20m better than my dipole but I’m still working out the kinks.
